The world-renowned sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955) built his home on the island of Lidingö, outside Stockholm, at the beginning of the 20th century – that which today is the Millesgården Museum. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we present this platform where several of Carl Milles’ bronze sculptures can be purchased.
In 1936 Carl and his wife Olga decided to donate their home, Millesgården, to the Swedish people tocreate a museum. To ensure Millesgården’s continued existence, he also conferred the right to castsculptures at the new museum. After Carl Milles death in 1955 the foundation’s board decided to permit casting of new numbered sculptures in limited editions of 6 or 12. Today this is still a central source of income for the museum. Proceeds from sculpture castings go to a fund that defrays the cost of maintaining the park and the artist’s home.
