The American dancer Loïe Fuller was a sensation in Paris during the turn of the century 1900’s with her special dances with attributes like veils and delicate fabrics that swirled around her. The Serpentin dancer by Carl Milles is a free interpretation of her dances. Carl Milles attended her performances and his admiration of her movements and other dancers were well-known.
